In brief
The ad account is where all your campaigns, spend and results live. It is created in your business portfolio. Without it (and without a payment method), no ad can run.
Why it matters
Two settings are permanent: the currency and the time zone. A mistake means creating a new account and losing the history.
The steps
- Open your portfolio in Meta Business Suite, then Business settings.
- Go to Accounts, then Ad accounts.
- Click Add, then Create a new ad account.
- Choose a clear name (for example “Brand name – France”).
- Choose the time zone and the currency carefully: you won’t be able to change them.
- Indicate that the account is for your own business (or for a client, if you are an agency).
- Assign access to the people who will work on it.
- Add a payment method (a card, for example): it is attached to the ad account.
- If needed, set a spending limit to protect yourself from a mistake.
- Link the Page, the Instagram account and the pixel you will need.
Pitfalls to avoid
- Choosing the wrong currency (or a time zone that shifts your reports by a day).
- Thinking you can move an ad account from one portfolio to another: it isn’t possible.
- Forgetting the payment method: campaigns don’t launch.
- Giving admin access to everyone.
Key takeaways
- Ad account = campaigns + spend + results.
- Currency and time zone: permanent.
- Payment is handled at the ad account level.
Practice in TRIALO
Create a fictional campaign by choosing a budget in euros: spot where the currency and dates appear. In TRIALO, nothing is billed.
