In brief
An ad is published on behalf of an identity: a Facebook Page and, if you wish, an Instagram account. They must be linked to your business portfolio to be selectable in your campaigns.
Why it matters
- It’s what the public sees: name, photo, posts.
- Without a linked Page, you generally can’t create an ad.
- Linking your assets in the portfolio lets you manage access cleanly.
The steps
- Check that your Page exists (if not, create it, with the company's name and category).
- In Business settings, open Accounts, then Pages.
- Click Add and choose Add a Page (or Create a new Page).
- Search for your Page and confirm: the Page admin may need to approve.
- Open Instagram accounts and click Add.
- Log in to Instagram and authorize the link. The account must be a professional account (business or creator).
- Assign the Page and the Instagram account to your ad account and to the people concerned.
Pitfalls to avoid
- A personal Instagram account: it has to be switched to a professional account.
- A Page with no admin available to approve the request.
- Linking the Page to the wrong portfolio (a former contractor’s, for example).
Key takeaways
- Page + Instagram = the identity of your ads.
- Link them in the portfolio, not just on the Page.
- Professional Instagram account required.
Practice in TRIALO
At the “Ad” step, find the identity choice (Page and Instagram profile) and look at the ad preview: the name and logo shown there come from this identity.
