General terms of use
Version 1.1, updated on October 29, 2026 (sign-in with Google).
Preamble
These general terms of use ("Terms of Use") set out the rules for accessing and using TRIALO, an educational ad account simulator. By creating an account, joining a class with a code or using the service, you acknowledge that you have read the Terms of Use and accept them without reservation. If you disagree, do not use the service. The terms of sale for subscriptions are set out in the general terms of sale ("Terms of Sale"); in the event of a conflict concerning a purchase, the Terms of Sale prevail.
1. Definitions
1.1. "Publisher": the publisher of TRIALO, identified in the legal notice.
1.2. "Service": the trialo.app site, the trialo.app/app application, the simulator and the educational guides.
1.3. "User": any person who uses the Service, whether a student, trainee, teacher, trainer or school administrator.
1.4. "Teacher": the User who creates classes and manages seats. "Student": the User attached to a class by means of a code.
1.5. "Fictional Content": the campaigns, audiences, texts, visuals and settings that the User creates in the simulator.
2. Purpose of the Service
2.1. TRIALO is an educational simulator: it reconstructs in simplified form how online ad managers work, so that users can create fictional campaigns and analyze simulated results.
2.2. No ads are served, no ad space is bought and no advertising payment is made.
2.3. The Service is reserved for adults.
3. Independence and third-party trademarks
3.1. TRIALO is an independent educational tool. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Meta Platforms, Inc., TikTok Pte. Ltd., Google LLC (including YouTube) or any other platform or ad network, and it is not connected to any of their services.
3.2. Meta, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Google and YouTube are trademarks of their respective owners. They are cited solely for reference, to indicate the educational purpose of the Service, and with no intention of creating confusion. TRIALO's simulators carry names of their own ("Social Ads (Meta-style)", "Social Ads (TikTok-style)", "Ads (Google & YouTube-style)"): the word "style" only indicates that they draw inspiration from these tools.
3.3. The User agrees not to present TRIALO, or the Fictional Content created in it, as coming from an advertising platform or as official documents of such a platform.
4. Simulated results
4.1. The results displayed by TRIALO are fake. They are not forecasts of the results of a real campaign, do not allow the quality of an advertising creative to be assessed, and must never be used to make an advertising investment decision.
4.2. They are used solely to practice reading metrics, spotting an anomaly and proposing an optimization.
5. Accounts and access
5.1. Access is by a login link and a code sent to the User’s email address, or via “Continue with Google”. A Student may also join a class with the code provided by their teacher, without an email address; their work is then not recoverable from another device or after the browser data is cleared, until they have linked an email address.
5.2. The information provided must be accurate and kept up to date. An account is strictly personal: it must not be shared or transferred. The User is responsible for the use of their account and for the confidentiality of their login links.
5.3. A Teacher is responsible for giving the class code only to their own students. They may lock a class, regenerate its code and remove a Student.
6. Rules of use
6.1. The User agrees to use the Service fairly, and in particular not to: disrupt or overload the Service; attempt to access other people's accounts or data; circumvent security measures or seat limits; mass-extract the Service's content ("scraping"); copy, decompile or resell the Service; enter real personal data of third parties; use the Service for unlawful purposes or purposes contrary to public decency.
6.2. Fictional Content must not contain any unlawful, defamatory or discriminatory content, or content that infringes the rights of third parties.
7. Intellectual property
7.1. The Service, its code, interface, educational guides, brand and logo are the property of the Publisher and are protected by law. These Terms of Use grant the User only a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable right to use the Service for their educational needs, for the duration of their access.
7.2. The User retains their rights in the Fictional Content they create. They grant the Publisher, for the retention period provided in article 8 and solely as needed to provide the Service, the right to host, reproduce and display it.
7.3. The User warrants that they hold the necessary rights in the texts, images and videos they import into the simulator, and must not import third-party works without permission.
7.4. The trademarks and rights of the platforms cited in article 3 remain the property of their holders.
8. Personal data protection
8.1. Data controller. The Publisher processes personal data as data controller, in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 ("GDPR") and French Act No. 78-17 of January 6, 1978, as amended. Contact: contact [at] trialo.app.
8.2. Categories of data. Identification data (first name, last name, optional email address for a Student, optional photo); linking data (role, class); Fictional Content; Teachers' billing data; support messages; technical security data (network-zone fingerprint, timestamps, action log). No sensitive data is requested.
8.3. Legal bases. Performance of the contract (account creation, provision of the Service, billing); consent (profile photo); legal obligation (accounting retention); legitimate interest (security of the Service, fight against abuse, seat counting). The processing-by-processing detail is set out in the privacy policy.
8.4. Retention periods. Student accounts and their campaigns are deleted six months after the class ends; any User may delete their account at any time; invoices are kept for 10 years; security logs for 30 days to 12 months depending on their nature.
8.5. Recipients. The data is accessible to the Publisher and its processors (hosting, payment, email sending). The Teacher sees their students' first name, last name, email address if any, photo if any and enrollment date, as well as the campaigns they create in their class.
8.6. Transfers outside the European Union. Some processors are established in the United States. Transfers are covered by the adequacy decision on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or, failing that, by the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
8.7. Rights. The User has the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and portability, as well as the right to withdraw consent and to set directives on what happens to their data after death.
8.8. Exercising rights. Routine changes (name, email, photo, account deletion) are made from "My profile and settings". For any other request, write to contact [at] trialo.app ; a reply is given within one month.
8.9. Complaint. The User may refer the matter to the CNIL (3 place de Fontenoy, TSA 80715, 75334 Paris Cedex 07, cnil.fr).
9. Availability and liability
9.1. The Service is provided "as is", including during the launch period. The Publisher uses reasonable means to keep it accessible, without any guarantee of uninterrupted or error-free operation, in particular for maintenance, updates or external causes.
9.2. The User is encouraged to export their campaigns as PDF regularly. The Publisher cannot be held liable for data loss due to force majeure, an act of the User or an external event, except in the case of gross negligence or willful misconduct on its part.
9.3. The Publisher is not responsible for decisions made on the basis of simulated results (article 4), nor for the use the User makes of the Service outside its educational purpose.
9.4. Nothing in these Terms of Use excludes or limits the Publisher's liability where it cannot be excluded or limited by law, in particular with respect to consumers.
10. Suspension and termination
10.1. The User may stop using the Service and delete their account at any time.
10.2. The Publisher may suspend or delete an account in the event of a breach of the Terms of Use, after informing the User by email where one has been provided, except in an emergency or where legally required.
11. Changes to the Terms of Use
11.1. The Publisher may amend the Terms of Use to reflect changes in the Service or in the law. The effective date appears at the top of the page.
11.2. Users are informed of any substantial change by email or in the application, at least 15 days before it takes effect. Continued use after that date constitutes acceptance; otherwise, the User may delete their account.
12. Governing law, mediation and jurisdiction
12.1. The Terms of Use are governed by French law.
12.2. In the event of a dispute, the User is invited to contact the Publisher first at contact [at] trialo.app. The consumer also has the right to use a consumer mediator free of charge, under the conditions set out in the Terms of Sale, and the European online dispute resolution platform (ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr).
12.3. Failing an amicable settlement, the competent courts are those designated by the statutory jurisdiction rules; for a professional User, those within the jurisdiction of the Rouen Court of Appeal.
13. General provisions
13.1. If any provision of the Terms of Use were declared void or unenforceable, the others would remain in force. Failing to rely on a breach does not constitute a waiver.
13.2. Contact: contact [at] trialo.app.
Effective: October 12, 2026. The Publisher reserves the right to amend these Terms of Use under the conditions of article 11.
