In brief
Business Manager is now called a business portfolio (“Business Portfolio”). It is the space that brings together everything you use for your advertising: Pages, Instagram accounts, ad accounts, pixels, and the people allowed to work on them. Day to day, you log in with Meta Business Suite.
Why it matters
- You own your advertising assets in the company’s name, not just on a personal profile.
- You can grant access to a colleague or an agency without sharing a password.
- An ad account created in one portfolio cannot be moved to another: it’s better to get it right from the start.
Before you start
- A personal Facebook profile to log in with (it’s used only for access, nothing is posted on it).
- The company’s official name, its address, its website and a business email.
- A company Facebook Page, or the intention to create one.
The steps
- Sign in to Facebook with your personal profile.
- Open business.facebook.com.
- Click Create an account (on some screens, “Create a business portfolio”).
- Enter the company name, your name and your business email, then confirm.
- Open the confirmation link you receive by email.
- In the settings, fill in the company information (address, website, phone).
- Add your assets: Page, Instagram account, ad account, pixel (see the next guides).
- Add the people concerned and choose their access (see the guide on roles).
- Turn on two-factor authentication on your profile.
Pitfalls to avoid
- Using a fake profile: Meta may block access, and you lose everything.
- Entering an approximate company name: it’s used for verification and appears in the interface.
- Leaving only one administrator: if they leave, access is blocked.
- Creating multiple portfolios: the number per person is limited.
Key takeaways
- Business Manager = business portfolio; Meta Business Suite = the everyday tool.
- It’s the owner of your advertising assets.
- An ad account does not change portfolios: choose the right one from the start.
Practice in TRIALO
In the simulator, the fictional ad account is already set up. Open it, find the account name at the top of the campaign list, then create a first campaign with Create.
