Opening a Meta-style ads manager for the first time can be bewildering. Yet the structure comes down to three levels, and understanding it avoids most beginner mistakes.
Level 1: the campaign
The campaign carries the objective: what you want to achieve (awareness, traffic, leads, sales). This objective guides how the platform delivers your ads. See Choose the campaign objective.
Level 2: the ad set
This is where you set who, where, when and how much: audience, placements, schedule, budget. It is the most strategic level, because it determines who sees your ads.
Level 3: the ad
The ad is what people see: image or video, text, headline, call-to-action button and landing page. See Placements and creative formats.
Why this structure matters
- It lets you test: several ads in one ad set, or several audiences for the same ad.
- It lets you read results at the right scale.
- It stops you from mixing different objectives in one campaign.
Practice it
The most effective way is to build several structures and compare them. In TRIALO you can create fictional campaigns and see the effect of each setting. The full guide: Structure campaign, ad set and ad.
