Custom reports

Build a report with your own dimensions and metrics, then export it.

In brief

Custom reports let you build a table with the dimensions (campaign, group, ad, age, gender, country, language, placement, optimization goal…) and the metrics (spend, CPM, CPC, CTR, reach, frequency, conversions, results…) of your choice. They can combine several ad accounts, be scheduled (daily, weekly, monthly, sent by email) and exported.

Why it matters

The campaign list doesn’t show everything: to find out which age range converts best, or which placement is cheapest, you need to cross the data.

The steps

  1. Open Custom Reports in the left-hand menu, then Create report.
  2. Choose the account(s) and the layout (pivot table or line charts).
  3. In the left-hand panel, Dimensions tab, choose age for example; Metrics tab, choose the numbers to read.
  4. Set the period and, if needed, filters.
  5. Save, schedule delivery or export.

Pitfalls to avoid

  • Crossing too many dimensions: the table becomes unreadable.
  • Forgetting the period: you end up comparing different durations.
  • Drawing conclusions from a segment that is too small.

Frequently asked questions

Report or custom columns? Columns stay in the list; the report crosses additional dimensions.

Can I receive a report automatically? Yes, through scheduled runs.

Key takeaways

  • Dimensions = "what to break down by"; metrics = "what to measure".
  • Period and filters before conclusions.
  • Scheduling and export available.
